Our Karate Story and History

How Karate Began and How We Got Into It

Our experience with karate

Karate started a long time ago in Okinawa, Japan. It was made to teach people how to defend themselves without weapons. The word "karate" means "empty hand". Over time, it became more popular around the world and turned into a sport and a way to stay healthy and focused. People of all ages do it now. It teaches self-control, respect, and confidence. A lot of schools also teach karate to help kids with discipline and fitness.

For us, karate became something special. My son started taking classes when he was four years old, and now he’s seven and still going strong. I joined about a year ago because I saw how much he was learning, and I wanted to be a part of it. I’ve picked up a lot just from helping him practice at home and watching his classes. Eventually, I got my own uniform and belt and started learning right along with him. We’ve both improved together, and it’s something we really connect on. Karate is more than a sport for us—it’s something we’re doing as a team.
